Jordan Reyes

Jordan Reyes is a Chicago-based musician, writer and label owner. While Reyes' varied output covers harsh noise, power electronics and experimental post-punk with the band Ono, under his own name he creates enveloping modular synth work that is easy to get lost in.  

The Fairchild OST and Border Land EP are works that Chicago-based Jordan Reyes conceived as two distinct projects, however, as they were written and conceived it was clear they were cut from the same kind of spiritual cloth. Faichild OST - a soundtrack commissioned for the short film by Kali Kahn - and Borderland are filled with the same kind of patient, unfolding modular synthesizer work that Reyes debuted on his 2019 album Close.

By means of sparsity and slow dislocations of the music’s flow, Jordan Reyes introduces very slight but significant tensions into pieces that would be otherwise comforting and happy; the wandering, instead of being oriented by play and self-fulfilment, is guided by alienation, by the loss of a centered self with which every path acquires meaning.
